Big Love Light Walk 2019 Terms and Conditions 

Participant Declaration 

  1. I declare, as a condition of entry into the Big Love Light Walk (Event), that I am not aware of any illness, injury or any other physical disability or impairment which may cause me, or any other person, injury or death during or as a consequence of participation in the Event. I acknowledge that The Australian Childhood Foundation (ABN 28 057 044 514) (ACF) may refuse to allow me to participate in the event for the safety of myself or others.
  2. I accept all risks associated with my participation in the Event including but not limited to loss of life or permanent injury and acknowledge that I will be solely responsible for my own health and safety during the Event. I am responsible for assessing all the dangers, hazards and risks of participating in the Event and will rely on my own assessment of these matters notwithstanding any decision made by the Event organisers.
  3. If I observe any safety risk during the Event, I agree to notify the Event organisers immediately and take all practicable steps to ensure my own health and safety and the safety of others.
  4. I release all persons or corporations associated directly or indirectly with the conduct of the Event from all claims, demands and proceedings arising out of my attendance at and participation in the Event and indemnify them against all liability (including liability for their negligence and the negligence of others) for death and all injury, loss or damage arising out of my participation in the Event or any breach of these Terms and Conditions or any law. This release extends to and includes ACF and its directors, officers, agents, contractors, employees and volunteers including medical and paramedical personnel appointed for the Event, the owners, licensees and occupiers of land on which the Event or any part of it is conducted, any statutory body or local authority having control over any land on which the Event or any part of it is conducted or which is involved directly or indirectly with the Event in any manner whatsoever, and promoters and sponsors of the Event. This release and indemnity continuesindefinitely and binds my heirs, executors, personal representatives and assignees.
  5. I consent to receive such medical aid or preventative treatment which may be deemed advisable in the unfettered discretion of Event medical and paramedical personnel in the event that I suffer any injury, accident or illness as the result of my participation in the Event. I accept that should I require medical assistance as a result of my participation in the Event, such as transportation to hospital, I will be responsible for payment and/or reimbursement of the cost of such assistance.
  6. I agree to abide by the Event rules and conditions and agree that the Event organisers may, in their absolute discretion, vary the Event rules and conditions without prior notice to me.
  7. I acknowledge that the entry fee is not refundable under any circumstances.
  8. My entry in this Event is not transferable to any other person and that no person may participate in my place.
  9. I consent to the free publication and/or use in any form of media whatsoever of my name, photograph, image, voice, interview, appearance, statement or otherwise (including the publication of my name and image in any broadcast, advertisement, promotion or other account of the Event in any form of media and social media, including advertising and promotions for future ACF events), without payment or compensation.
  10. I agree to ACF entering my personal details contained on the entry form for the Event into a database which will be used for the administration of the Event (including disclosure to medical and paramedical personnel for delivering medical services) and which may also be used for future marketing and promotional purposes (including electronic messages) by ACF. My personal details will not be disclosed by ACF to a third party except third parties who provide assistancewith such administration of the Event and marketing and promotional purposes (including but not limited to receiving information and marketing material from ACF and its authorised representatives including in the form of electronic messages). I acknowledge that I will not be registered for this Event if I fail to provide such information.
  11. I agree that these terms and conditions will be construed broadly to provide a release, indemnity and waiver in favour of all persons or corporations associated directly or indirectly with the conduct of the Event of any liability for theft, loss, injury or other damage to personal property to the maximum extent permitted by law.
  12. I confirm that I am 18 years or older or that I am the parent or legal guardian of the participant who is under the age of 18 years and agree to the Terms and Conditions for and on behalf of the participant.
  13. I declare that all the information supplied by me on the entry form is true and correct. I certify that I have read and understand these Terms and Conditions. As a parent or guardian of the competitor, I agree to these Terms and Conditions for myself and on behalf of my child and I give the indemnities, releases and waivers in these Terms and Conditions for myself and the participant.

Entry Terms

  1. Only entries submitted on the official entry form, either hard copy or online will be accepted.
  2. Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions.
  3. Each participant must assemble behind the designated starting line, await the official start and then proceed on the approved course.
  4. No roller skates, roller blades, hand cycles, geared vehicles, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, dogs or other items that may cause injury to participants are permitted at the Event.
  5. ACF reserves the right to change or modify any part of the Event including the course at any time. Changes will be notified on the Event website
  6. The Event organisers reserve the right to reject or cancel any entry at any time, including without limitation for safety or insurance reasons, or if, in the opinion of the organisers, the participant is unable to complete the Event.
  7. All participants must observe normal traffic rules and obey all directions and instructions given by Event officials and the police.
  8. Entrants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18 to participate.

Privacy statement 

ACF understands the importance of protecting the privacy of individuals and complies with the relevant legislation to ensure the confidentiality of any personal information collected. ACF will retain the information on the Event entry form for the purpose of notifying you of ACF’s activities and future events.  The ACF privacy policy contains information about how to access personal information held by ACF or how to make a complaint about handling of personal information.  A copy of ACF’s privacy policy is available at

Event Entry and Cancellation 

  1. The wellbeing of individuals is of the highest importance to ACF. In cases of extreme weather or other emergencies, the Event organisers may cancel the Event. Notice of Event cancellations will be made at least 3 hours prior to the scheduled start time. Notification of cancellation will be posted on the Event homepage of
  2. If the Event is cancelled, it will not be rescheduled and no refunds will be given.
  3. In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the ACF’s ability to proceed with the Event on the date and in the manner described in these Terms and Conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, ACF may cancel the Event.
  4. ACF and its directors, officers, agents, contractors, employees and volunteers are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information associated with or utilised in the Event, or for any technical error that may occur in the course of the administration of the Event including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
